I’m delighted to send you warm greetings from the members of the Nu Iota Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. The Nu Iota Omega Chapter was chartered in Maitland, FL on June 28, 1980 to serve our communities in the North Orange and the South Seminole Counties. We’ve been a steward of servant-leadership in the Maitland, Winter Park, Eatonville, Apopka, Ocoee, Altamonte Springs and other local cities. It’s been our pleasure to serve you and we look forward to fostering relationships that will continue to grow for many more years to come.
Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. was founded on January 15, 1908 by nine college students on the campus of Howard University. They saw a need for lifelong sisterhood, lifelong learning and lifelong service to alleviate issues in our communities. We’re led by the guiding principles to cultivate and encourage high scholastic and ethical standards, to promote unity and friendship among college women in order to improve their social stature, to maintain a progressive interest in college life, and to be of “service to all mankind”.
Our reach is global! With the help of over 290,000 members, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. introduced it’s 2015-2018 International Program: “Launching New Dimensions of Service”. There are five targets we’ll focus on during this administration.
Target 1: Educational Enrichment
Target 2: Health Promotion
Target 3: Family Strengthening
Target 4: Environmental Ownership
Target 5: Global Impact
In addition to the above targets, Alpha Kappa Alpha members across the world will engage in activities on the following community impact days:
Additionally, Nu Iota Omega Chapter partners with Ivy Tea Rose, Inc., our charitable philanthropic arm, to offer academic scholarships and other community focused programs. Those programs include our Ivy Rosettes mentoring group, the Winter Park Unity Heritage Festival and the Senior Prom.
The members of Nu Iota Omega Chapter are dedicated to the communities we serve. We look forward to creating long term awareness and relationships for our Sisterhood, Community, Government and Business.
