On Saturday, May 3rd, 2014 Central Florida will be decked to the nines for the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc.’s Kentucky Derby Soiree. The ladies of the Nu Iota Omega chapter have been putting on the finishing touches to what is going to be an event to remember. From entertainment, food and atmosphere to the best dressed and best hat competitions, folks around town have been searching for weeks for the best ensemble to step onto the Pink Carpet. The I.W. Phillips House at the Courtyard at Lake Lucerne definitely sets the tone of a very swanky daytime event where we watch the most exciting 2 minutes in sports. Here are some of the details for the Soiree:
Women – Express your inner Southern Belle! Hats not required but highly encouraged.
Men – The Derby is one of the few times that gentlemen can stand out more than the ladies.
Early Bird (until April 21, 2014) – Turf Club $50 (open seating on a first come basis)/ Trophy Club $75 (reserved seating, one (1) complimentary drink, & valet parking)
Regular Pricing (after April 21, 2014) – Turf Club $65/ Trophy Club $85
The Nu Iota Omega Chapter, in conjunction with Ivy Tea Rose, Inc. hosts this highly anticipated event for their scholarship fund where they give scholarships to deserving high school senior girls entering college or women pursuing their law degree at The Florida State University in honor of their beloved chapter members Connie Joyce Davis & Robin Lynn Young.
